Meet Matthew Sercely: Your Tax Strategy Attorney
Fighting government overreach one tax return at a time.

Professional Background
I bring over 15 years of legal experience to the complex world of tax planning. I’m a graduate of the University of Dallas who attended Ave Maria School of Law and SMU School of Law, and received my law license in 2009.
Early Career: I spent much of my early career working on personal injury cases, but always had a passion for helping the little guy fight the government. During this time, I became my office’s “tax man” for the rare cases where tax knowledge came up.
The Pivot: After starting my own business, I began diving deep into tax strategies to minimize my own tax burden. I quickly realized that most other business owners couldn’t or didn’t figure out what I had discovered. Through what I’ve learned over the years, I’ve saved thousands of dollars on my own taxes, including achieving a less than 5% effective tax rate on my 2019 taxes.
Founded Agorist Tax Advice (2020): While spending time at the Survival Podcast event in November of 2020, I realized that I knew lots of other people who could use my skills, and this was a perfect way to be an agorist and help others avoid funding the state.
The “Agorist” Philosophy
What is Agorism?
Agorism is the practice of counter-economics using legal methods to avoid funding government activities you disagree with. It’s about keeping more of your hard-earned money in your pocket instead of sending it to government waste.
Why This Matters
Not surprisingly, I’m not a fan of the Federal Government (or as I often call them, “the Federal thieves”). While I don’t have the expertise to fight it in the Constitutional law context, I discovered I have a good head for numbers and the insanity that is the tax code, but hated the Feds so much, I didn’t even think about becoming a tax lawyer.
Personal Life
I live near Dallas, Texas with my wife and three children. When I’m not helping clients reduce their tax burden, I enjoy working on my hydroponic garden, reading, swimming, and weightlifting.
I’m a serial entrepreneur who has tried starting various businesses over the years from other law practices to e-commerce and real estate ventures before finding my true calling in tax strategy.

Why Work With Me?
The “Tax Coach” Difference
Unlike traditional CPAs who just file your returns, I act as your tax coach. I don’t just hand you a plan and disappear. I coach you through implementation, provide accountability, and ensure you actually execute the strategies.
Proven Results
I’ve helped multiple clients save thousands of dollars in taxes each year through legal, compliant strategies. It’s a perfect win-win-win situation: I get paid a fair amount for my expertise, you keep more money in your pocket, and the Federal thieves get less money in their pocket.
Attorney Advantage
As a licensed attorney, I can provide legal strategies that go beyond what typical tax preparers offer. You get sophisticated planning backed by legal expertise.
Shared Values
If you believe in keeping more of what you earn and reducing government waste, you’ll appreciate my libertarian approach to tax planning.
